The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

JoAnn's Episodes: Of Thee I Sing (#76) & How to Succeed... (#80)

Where are you from? Born in Japan, grew up in Coventry, RI.

Broadway credits: Jerome Robbins' Broadway, Shogun The Musical, Miss Saigon, Guys and Dolls, Damn Yankees, How To Succeed..., Funny Thing Happened...Forum, Chicago, Steel Pier, Kiss Me Kate, Thou Shalt Not, Thoroughly Modern Millie, All Shook Up, The Wedding Singer, Curtains, Spring Awakening, On A Clear Day..., Broadway Bound, School of Rock, Disaster!

How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? After I left my first call for Jerome Robbins, which went from 10am - 5pm with a lunch break, my agent left me a message saying, "Do not take another job. You will be getting an offer."

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? Broadway Softball League, and anything Tom Viola from BC/EFA does!

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? While in tech, you do not finish the show or run it without stopping before the first audience, yet we all pull together, focus and do it... Usually.

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp.  This organization was founded by Paul Newman over 25 years ago and is truly one of the most inspiring things I get to be a part of.

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be… There are so many! Stro (Susan Stroman), Jo Senecal (Hole In The Wall) and I have, JK Rowling, Joe Montana, Derek Jeter.

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose… Barbra Streisand.

To be successful in this business, it takes…Tenacity, compassion, collaboration, patience.

Tell us a secret. I am really only 5’3".
