The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

Jennifer's Season: The History of the Ensemblist

Where are you from? Boca Raton, Florida, baby! Where the average age is 75.

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? The Broadway Flea Market - I absolutely love getting to peruse and buy theatrical treasures right in the heart of Times Square, for an amazing cause - BC/EFA.

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? The hidden ways that certain theaters are connected to each other. Also, any show that ran less than 300 performances. Also, everything!

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? Mad Men is my favorite television show of all time, and I've recently read all of the books that creator Matthew Weiner named as inspirations for the show, many of which he also had his writing staff read. From Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson, to The Girls In The Office by Jack Olsen, to The Death and Life of Great American Cities by Jane Jacobs, to the fiction of John Cheever... all of these books have inspired me very much.

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be... Matthew Weiner. See above.

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose... Adrienne Warren! That lady is incredible, and I'd like to see what it's like to give her amazing performance in Shuffle Along... and also BE part of Shuffle Along, period... and also share the stage with her unbelievable co-stars. I think she has the best job on Broadway right now, and I also can't wait to see what she does next!

To be successful in this business, it takes... Perseverance. Never ever ever ever give up. Ever.

Tell us a secret. I stayed up all night crying when Brian Stokes Mitchell lost the Tony for Ragtime in 1998 and skipped middle school the next day.
