Where are you from? Kansas City, MO (obligatory "Go Royals" comment)
Broadway credits: Hamilton, Matilda, Scandalous, Leap of Faith, Memphis, Wicked
How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? Either I got an email from the folks at Wicked or they called my agent... I forget. It was my third company of Wicked, so we were on familiar terms.
What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? Broadway Barks. I want to be asked to host/present as I LOVE animals, have a dog of my own (who is a rescue) named Ozzy (because I got him while doing Wicked in Chicago), and every animal I see there I want to adopt. All of them.
What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? The creative process. Taking a show off the page and putting it on stage. SO much thought and creativity goes into it before the first foot falls on the floor of the rehearsal room.
What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? I am also an avid photographer, and traveling really inspires that. My boyfriend and I took a trip to Morocco in May, and they are a culture that doesn't particularly care for cameras, but the people around me and the architecture and decoration were so compelling that I had to get creative with my shots or ask permission.
If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be... Jon Stewart. He's gotten me interested far more in the political climate of today, and his perspective and humor on all of it is right up my alley. I think he'd just be REALLY interesting to talk to.
If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose... Someone in a different culture who doesn't have the everyday conveniences that I do. Someone whose life is "harder." I think putting ourselves in uncomfortable situations sometimes helps up truly live and enjoy the life that we actually have, while creating compassion and understanding for people who are different from ourselves.
To be successful in this business, it takes... Hustle. You can be talented as hell, but if there's no drive and follow through, you'll get nowhere.
Tell us a secret. I totally still sing show tunes in my apartment like I did when I was growing up. Music blaring, just belting. Sometimes a neighbor will yell at me... I do not care.
