The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

Mary's Episode: Stage Managers (#21)

Where are you from? Philadelphia

Broadway credits: Guys & Dolls, Smokey Joe’s Cafe (ASM/Dance Captain) Company (Kathy), Chicago, Fosse, Seussical, Deuce (SM), Blithe Spirit (prompter for Angela Lansbury), A Little Night Music (ASM/Dance Captain), Sister Act (ASM), Motown (ASM)

How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show?  I received a phone call from the Company Manager.

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community?  Don’t have one; just love the collective creative energies continually coming together –

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you?  I am still constantly fascinated by the variety and level of talent involved in all aspects of the theatre.

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently?  Walking on my woodland property in Northeastern Pennsylvania; amazingly inspiring in every season!

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be…  Difficult to narrow this down: Marina Abromovic, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Hilary Clinton, to name a few—

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose…  I wouldn’t.

To be successful in this business, it takes…  Talent, timing, commitment, hunger, focus.

Tell us a secret.  I’m too shy—
