The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

Cody's Episode: Stage Managers (#21)

Where are you from? Houston, TX

Broadway credits: Lysistrata Jones, Ghost the Musical, Cyrano de Bergerac (Roundabout Revival), Motown the Musical, After Midnight, Kinky Boots

How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? Facebook. A friend messaged me and said “OMG, I’m so glad you’re transferring with us to Broadway!” …and at that point no one had contacted me officially with an offer, so that was fun. ;)

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? Opening Nights!!!!! and also, the Tony Awards.

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? The history of it. I love walking into a theatre and finding out who played there before or who sat in a certain dressing room, etc.

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? Strangely enough, the “Kid President” on youtube. I’m obsessed with his posts and I love the message that he sends. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5-EwrhsMzY

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be…Phylicia Rashad.

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose…Whoopi or Ellen. I’ve always wanted my own talk show…

To be successful in this business, it takes…Determination, Luck, Positivity and a Sense of Humor.

Tell us a secret. I hate coffee. Always have. Always will.
