The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

Steph's episode: Dance Captains (#16)

Where are you from?: New Jersey

Broadway credits: In The HeightsIf/Then. Assoc. Chor.- Bring It ON,

How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? With the rest of the Off-Broadway cast of ITH in the basement of what was then 37 Arts where we did the show. We all knew already though so it was one of the most lackluster moments ever. They had camera crews on us for the documentary that we were making… I don’t even think they used the footage. Don’t tell Jeffrey Sellers, he’ll be upset, it had nothing to do with his delivery…

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? Broadway bares… Duh! Isn’t it everyone’s?!

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? The amount of talent all my friends embody, to think they just walk down the street like everybody else … Blows my mind.

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? A blog about a boy and a puppy #theoandbeau. Connection… Between two people or in this case an animal and a person. It’s where the world is moving I believe, away from the grandiose and into the interactions humans have individually with their environments.

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be… Ruta Gedmintas… I have a major crush. I just want to stare at her up close… Wait, is that shallow?! I mean Obama…?

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose… My mom always said “you’d never trade your package with anyone else’s” referring to the entire package of you and your life… And I’ve lived by that. Not really sure if I’d trade. Well maybe for one day with someone from a refugee camp if I knew I wouldn’t die just to gain a new perspective.

To be successful in this business, it takes… Perseverance. Luck=1 part repetition + 2 parts hard work.

Tell us a secret. I’m a Jewish lesbian… I don’t think that’s a secret though. Ummm, I have a fear of singing on public, a terrible fear…picked a great profession…
