The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

Scott's Episode: Long Running Shows (#17)

Where are you from? Tustin, CA (Orange County)

Broadway credits: Original companies of THE BOOK OF MORMON and Deaf West/Roundabout’s revival of BIG RIVER.

How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? Phone call from Jeremy Rich (casting director) around 9:00 PM the night following my final audition for BIG RIVER. I was standing in my kitchen and as soon as he told me, I just started screaming with excitement… scared my roommate half-to-death in the process!

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? I think the Gypsy Robe Ceremony on the opening night of a musical is a really special Broadway experience. To know that tradition has carried on for decades, literally touched by thousands of actors and dancers, I find incredibly humbling and beautiful.

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? The rehearsal room. I’m always intrigued by the process of taking what is on the written page and creating a real working piece of theater with a dynamic group of theater artists. If I could just get paid to rehearse shows, I would do it!

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? Despite having never been a big sports fan, I have recently started following FOOTBALL! All thanks to the influence of my cast-mate Brian Sears and our Stage Manager Rachel McCutchen! “Go Pack Go!”

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be… I love me some Judith Light, and I feel like she’d be awfully fun to have coffee with…

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose... I don’t think I’d mind being Oprah for a day.

To be successful in this business, it takes… Endurance. It’s all about the long game.

Tell us a secret. My middle name is Mckenzie.
