Where are you from? Pittsburgh PA!
Broadway credits: The Producers, Young Frankenstein, Rock Of Ages, Catch Me If You Can, Big Fish
How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? I was having lunch with another Broadway gypsy, Ashley Amber, after my audition for The Producers. My agent called me and told me I was cast and would understudy Ulla as well!!! I had done the show on tour forms year and a half…. But never on Broadway!! I was over the moon!!!!
What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? Broadway Bares!!! Mr Jerry Mitchell has made an incredible fun and sexy event that raises over a million dollars for BCEFA in just one night!!! I mean…. And who doesn’t love to get naked!
What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? The casting process. It’s so interesting to think about what gets someone a callback or a specific role. I’m also fascinated in the process of moving out of the ensemble to playing roles. It’s part luck, part timing, part positioning and all talent. I would love to be behind the table and just observe. Casting directors are the most fascinating to me!
What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? Becoming a yoga teacher. Giving a practice that has changed my life back to people is immensely fulfilling. Come take my class at Modo… Formerly known as Moksha, Yoga in the West Village!
If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be… Prince. Hands down.
If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose… Susan Stroman. I would love to know what’s its like inside of her mind!! She’s beyond brilliant and is always so connected and engrossed in what she’s doing. I’m also fully convinced she doesn’t eat or sleep;-)! Many mysteries would be solved.
To be successful in this business, it takes... A strong sense of self, a lot of laughter, work ethic, gratitude, and being a good human being. And wine. Lots of wine….. Hahahaha!
Tell us a secret. When I get really stressed I go to TJ Maxx or Loehmanns and it calms me down to hunt for bargains. I don’t actually have to buy anything either. It’s just something about being around a world of possible bargains on designer diamonds in the rough that makes me calm down. It’s my zen place;-)
