The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

Lauren's Episode: Listener Questions 2013 (#13)

Where are you from? Detroit, Mi

Broadway credits: Sweeney Todd, Rock of Ages

How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? I got a phone call from my first agent, Nancy Carson, on my cell phone. I was working as an accountant at Daniel K, a high end diamond jewelry company. She said “Are you sitting down? How would you like to be in the revival of Sweeney Todd on a Broadway?” I went into a state of shock and excitement. I took an extra long lunch break to call my family and friends to share the news.

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? I love Broadway Barks. Broadway Bares is also very fun and crazy. Last year The Skivvies performed! We were the opening act and had a blast.

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? I can’t believe how much everything costs.

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? My dear friend and former ROA castmate Michele Mais for overcoming breast cancer and looking great.

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be… Ellen Degeneres.

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose… Tina Fey. She’s an idol of mine, so I’d also have coffee with her.

To be successful in this business, it takes… luck, hard work, patience, the ability to let things go and move on, creativity, originality, and of course balls.
