The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

Nina's Episode: Long Running Shows (#17)

Where are you from? Miami, FL

Broadway credits: In The Heights, Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown, Sweet Charity, Aida

How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? At that time I was touring the world dancing backup for the recording artist Mya. I didnt have an agent so the casting office called me directly to tell me I had booked Aida on Broadway! Up until that point I had never been a part of a musical theater production and my first experience was going to be on Broadway! I was laughing and crying all at the same time. It was the most exhilarating feeling and the biggest dream come true!

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? Opening Night

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? The constant energy and buzz of it. Audiences never cease to be lit up by it. As performers, we always carry it with us. You can walk in the theater district on any given day and time and you can feel it bouncing off the buildings and in the streets. It’s like a fire that will never be put out. Always burning brighter and brighter.

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? Television and Film, District Stage Company in Miami, FL (I am one of the co-founders)

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be…  Oprah

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose…Beyonce

To be successful in this business, it takes…   trusting yourself and your heart first. Then be dedicated, committed, do the very best you can always, and never be afraid to share your light with the world.

Tell us a secret. I want to have a boat and travel the world… the rest I’ll keep secret for now :)
