The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

John's Episode: Spotlight On: Costumes! (#42)

Where are you from? Tiverton RI

Broadway credits: Jersey Boys

How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? I was working on the show all over the country and hadn’t done the show In months before I got the call that they wanted me to join the Broadway company

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? I love the gypsy robe ceremony

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? The fact that there’s as much going on backstage (if not more sometimes) than onstage.

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? the “Into the Woods”  movie. (That’s sort of cheating but) I really loved the way things were rethought, reimagined and executed in the film. I’m also a diehard fan of the original.

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be… Chelsea Handler, but it would probably have to be a place that also serves booze. I’m ok with that.

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose… Sara Barielles. I’ve always wanted to play the piano and be able do it while I sing. I’d like to experience that feeling.

To be successful in this business, it takes… Patience, perseverance, passion and drive.

Tell us a secret. I belt Judy Garland songs in the shower. (People might assume that however)
