The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

Jess' Episode: Listener Questions 2014 (#38)

Where are you from? Little Falls, NJ

Broadway credits: The Boy From Oz, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Bye Bye Birdie, Newsies & On The Town.

How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? I heard the news about The Boy From Oz from my parents after school.

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? Gypsy of the Year/ Easter Bonnet & the Flea Market.

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? Meeting so many wonderful people along the way from talented actors and creative artists to audiences and fans who support every show.

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? Music and dance are something that I’ve continued to learn more about. They both have such wide ranges of style. I like being introduced to different genres that I’m not familiar with.

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be… That’s tough. Billy Joel, Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, Dustin Hoffman, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Joel Grey, Carol Burnett, Martin Short, Harry Connick Jr.

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose… I would trade places with my brother. He’s a musician and music teacher. I would love to see how he works with so many students who love music and want to learn more about it.

To be successful in this business, it takes… perseverance, confidence and love for what you do.
