The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

Jason's Episode: Actors' Equity Association (#57)

Where are you from? Westchester, NY

Broadway credits: Phantom of the Opera, Urban Cowboy, A Tale of Two Cities, and Actors Fund benefits of The Normal Heart & The Visit

How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? Pretty sure it was a phone call from the PSM.

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? I do a lot events for Broadway Cares and The Actors Fund, which are all amazing, but I think Bares is extra special because it brings people together from different shows whether on Broadway or not to create something entirely unique, and the fundraising among the participants is SO driven for the entire time.

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? The astounding amount of not only talent and passion, but also the incredible generosity throughout the entire community. I’m also a huge nerd for all things old New York, so I find the history completely fascinating.

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? Justice Kennedy’s Obergefell decision, beautiful writing and a huge impact.

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be… Anthony Bourdain

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose… I have my hands full being me, don’t ask me to be someone else too!

To be successful in this business, it takes… Passion, patience, perseverance, ethics, a thick skin, a sense of humor, a little brains, a little talent.

Tell us a secret. If I couldn’t do this anymore, I’d want to be a chef.
