The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

Ericka's Episode: Revivals and OBCs and Ensemblists, Oh My! (#51)

Where are you from? Ottawa, Canada

Broadway Credits: Flower Drum Song, 42nd Street, Rock Of Ages, Doctor Zhivago

How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show?  I was filming The Music Man movie up in Toronto and I got the call that I booked the Broadway revival of Flower Drum Song! It was pretty awesome.

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community?  I’ve always been a big fan of Broadway Bares. I’ve danced in it a few times. I just think it’s a wonderful cause and a fun way meet and work with other Broadway performers.

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you?  I think live theater can be the best form of escapism. There’s something so alive about Broadway and knowing that when you’re performing, there’s so many people from 41st street to 53rd street doing it with you!

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? I recently started an initiative on Twitter and Instagram called “I Believe In MySelfie”. It’s a movement to unite people to celebrate their differences and build self-esteem. It encourages people to take a selfie and then share a story about something they are overcoming and learning to love about themselves. When they use our handle (@ibelieveinmyseflie) and hashtag(#ibelieveinmyselfie) they can share their stories with others.  I already have stories from all over the world and they are incredibly inspiring. Please check it out!

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be… I would like to have coffee with Sarah Jessica Parker…and it would be a wine date.

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose… J Lo.

To be successful in this business, it takes…  Success is a big word with many meanings. I think it’s great to be goal oriented. Personally, I approach life one goal at a time and put all my energy into that.
