The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

Blake's Episode: [DRessed as] A Girl: On Broadway (#47)

Where are you from? Glen Rose, Texas

Broadway credits:  Living on Love, First Date, Sister Act, Elf, Billy Elliot, Hairspray, The Lion King, Kiss Me Kate, The Music Man, On the Town.

How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show?
I was working on Bells are Ringing at the Kennedy Center when I got the call from my Agent that On the Town, which I had done in Central Park, was moving to Broadway.

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? My favorite is Easter Bonnet. I like the collecting and also the creativity of the Bonnet building for each show.

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? I find it fascinating that there are no absolutes. We have no idea what will hit or miss and it’s always a risk each show you do. The only thing that never changes is that fact.

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? I have been traveling this year and found myself in Portland OR. That city and part of this country is inspiring in so many ways. Love the people, love the attitude.

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be... today I would choose Ellen DeGeneres. I would like to laugh and dance with her while sipping!

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose… My Mom – she lives with such pain. I would happily take that away for a day.

To be successful in this business, it takes… talent, determination, and the ability to laugh at yourself. Oh, and you have to keep showing up.

Tell us a secret.  I love the TV show “The Gilmore Girls.” I watch it in reruns everyday and have for years.
