Q&A: Paul McGill
Nikka Lanzarone
Where are you from? Pittsburgh
Broadway credits: La Cage (2004), A Chorus Line (Mark), Memphis, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, Bullets Over Broadway
How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? Rachelle Rak, my first dance teacher, suggested I audition for Jerry Mitchell for La Cage. I was hired that day and started rehearsals in NY that week.
What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? Broadway Bares is one of the only opportunities for the Broadway dance community to get together and put on a show. Singers get any venue anytime. We dancers need SPACE. And when we get it, we can FLY!!!
What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? I’m fascinated by the development of shows. The process.
What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? I’m easily inspired. Something as complex and cool as Mass MOCA or something as simple as an interaction. I look for it everywhere.
If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be... Easy. Taymor.
If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose… An infant. Their fresh discovery of the world is invaluable.
To be successful in this business, it takes… A thick skin and a squishy soul.
Tell us a secret. I can’t. It’s dirty. ;)
