The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

Mike's Episode: Split Tracks (#23)

Where are you from? Pittsburgh, PA

Broadway credits: All Shook Up, A Chorus Line, West Side Story, The Addams Family, Ghost, Aladdin

How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? I got a call and jumped on the first train into the city to tell my wife in person.

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? I guess Gypsy runs. There’s so much support and love.

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? Everyone involved from actors, to the orchestra, stage managers, costumers, are all living their dream.  We all dreamed to work here, probably never thought it would happen, but it did and I feel like I try to soak up how awesome it is to go to work on Broadway every day….run on sentence.

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? Gosh, Aladdin has taken over for the past 6 months.  I’m always inspired by music.  Throw some James Taylor on the iphone and the day gets a little better.  I like to write so I’m always looking for inspiration from things I see on the street to people I meet to old friends.  I’m always looking for a good story.

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be… Bon Jovi

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose… No one.  I love my place.

To be successful in this business, it takes… patience and a good work ethic.

Tell us a secret. I’m typing this with my feet.
