Where are you from? Orem, Utah…yep, Utah
Broadway credits: Footloose, Aida, Wicked
How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? I was on the road with State Fair (tap dancing cow anyone?) I had flown back to the city for a 3 ½ minute callback then went back on the road. Got the call 2 weeks later ( from the late, great Barry Moss)…there was a great deal of giggling and jumping up and down on the bed in my hotel room. I was 19, my roommate was not amused….
What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? BROADWAY SESSIONS of course :) It’s such a love fest. I like to think of it as a gathering of a bunch of teenage theater nerds geeking out in their bedrooms to their favorite cast album, except we are adults, Broadway professionals and there’s a bar :)
What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? The sense of community and support is so very real. It’s it’s own microcosm between 42nd and 59th that’s alive with energy, ambition, passion, artistry and hot chorus boys..wait..what’s the question?
What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? I’ve been re-reading “The 4 Agreements”..in a business where we are salesmen of ourselves it’s easy to get caught up in what others are doing and put yourself down..this book is centering in such a concise and simple way.
If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be… Terrence Mann..my hero since I was a kid….he kissed me on the lips once, but I’d love to have a conversation too. Or Tom Bergeron….or Flo from the Progressive commercials
If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose… golly this is tough, I feel like I should say something really deep like the Dalai Lama, Oprah or The Pope….but I guess I’ll say Kim Kardashian
To be successful in this business, it takes… having a thick skin, a strong sense of self and perseverance
Tell us a secret. I have a framed 8 by 10 of Bea Arthur hanging over my bed….i get lots of dates
