The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

Chris' Episode: Swings (#3)

Where are you from? I am from Edmond, Oklahoma. It is near Oklahoma City.

Broadway credits: Currently making my Broadway debut in “The Book of Mormon”.

How did you hear you’d booked your first Broadway show? It was really glamorous. I was loading laundry into the washer. Haha But in all honesty, it was a dream come true no matter how it happened!

What is your favorite event in the Broadway community? I love the Tony Awards. For a kid from middle-America living in a pre-Youtube world, it was the one time of year where I could see a glimpse of Broadway. I used to have a VHS tape that I recorded all of the performances on and would watch over and over.

What’s something about Broadway that fascinates you? All of the “magic” behind the scenes that keep a show running truly blows my mind. There are SO many people involved in making a show happen. To keep something running smoothly is a lot of work and it is made possible by a lot of hardworking individuals that the audience never even see.

What, other than theatre, has inspired you recently? Recently, I have been really inspired by those around me. I love seeing good things happen to good people and seeing my friends find success in the business and in life really brings me a lot of happiness.

If I could have coffee with any living person, it would be… Julie Andrews. She was so much a part of my childhood and in so many of the films that fueled my passion for musical theatre.

If I could trade places with anybody for a day, I would choose… Probably Justin Timberlake. I think he is awesome.

To be successful in this business, it takes… Hard work, a strong drive, staying grounded, and a good attitude. Sadly the last one is not a requirement… but it makes it SO much better for those around you and I promise it will help you out too!

Tell us a secret. I have watched the 1st Season of Desperate Housewives over 5 times. I know, I know… I am slightly embarrassed. Slightly.
