The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

What is The Ensemblist?
The Ensemblist is an online advocate for the talented artists who work in Broadway ensembles. What started as an audio podcast for those curious about how Broadway really works turned into an avenue for young and aspiring professional artists to learn more about about theatre from in the inside out.

What’s an ensemblist?
It's simple: an ensemblist is a chorus member. They may die on a barricade, tap dance on a giant dime, or soar over the audience dressed as a flying monkey, but each individual is a talented performer with a wealth of experiences to share.

What are your podcast episodes about?
Since opening our doors in 2013, we’ve shared the stories of Broadway’s talented ensemble actors. In that time, we’ve produced over 150 episodes, with seasons on Ensemblist essentials, the history of the Ensemblist and the Broadway community at large. We’ve shared stories on the creation of six Broadway musicals, from the recent Spring Awakening revival to this season’s The Band Visit.

First, subscribe to the podcast in the Apple Podcasts  store, or, if you have an iPhone, with the Podcasts app. If you’re not a Mac person, you can bookmark, or subscribe on TuneIn or Stitcher. You can also listen to our whole archive by visiting our Episodes page.

Who are the guests?
Our awesome guests are cast members from every Broadway show you can think of, past and present! The journey of each Broadway performer is unique and fascinating: combining training, passion, and talent with being in the right place at just the right time. Our guests have been so generous in sharing stories about their experiences, why they love what they do, and how it all comes together. You can read more about them by visiting our Guests page. We make them all answer our soon-to-be famous Q&A so you can get to know them better!

Who wrote that incredibly catchy theme song?
Why, The Skivvies, of course! We love Nick Cearley and Lauren Molina so much, and are forever grateful that they wrote this song for us.

What is The Ensemblist blog?
Our blog features daily posts from actors about their lives and work. Topics range from creating characters and jobs in the theatre to discussions of trends in theatre and reviews of shows.

When will you start producing new podcast episodes?
As of January 2018, we’ve decided to go on an undetermined hiatus from producing new podcast episodes. But who knows? We might pop into your podcast feed months down the road, if we find a story that’s too amazing not to share with you.

I’m an educator. How can I use The Ensemblist in my classes?
We created an online course guide - all with the goal of creating a conversation about how talented and skilled ensemble actors truly are.

I have an idea for an episode or a blog post. How do I contact you?
