Today on our blog, we welcome The Phantom of the Opera ensemblist Rachel Anne Moore to Broadway and learn about her journey to the Great White Way:
1. What's your name and hometown?
Rachel Anne Moore from Seattle, WA.
2. What is your role/track in your Broadway debut?
Spanish Lady and Carlotta Giudicelli Understudy in The Phantom of the Opera.
3. How did you find out you had booked the part?
I found out I had booked Phantom early in the morning in Seattle exactly a week before Christmas, from my agent who was calling from NYC.
4. What's been the most surprising thing about preparing to perform the show?
The most surprising part of the preparation has been learning the backstage traffic, because the other theaters I played were so large and it wasn’t a big part of the learning process. Here at the Majestic, for safety, we need to be very specific about where we are when we are near the stage. It is easy to accidentally be right in the way.
5. What are you looking forward to most about your experience on Broadway?
I am hugely looking forward to the day I will go on as Carlotta understudy, because this show was the first Broadway show I ever saw. My dad and I were in town while I was auditioning for conservatories, and we came to see Phantom on one of the nights in town. At intermission, we debated which role would be right for me. That first time I will go on here at the Majestic will be in honor of his memory and me loving the fact that I was right!
