The Ensemblist is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer- from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you’re an experienced theatre professional or a passionate fan, The Ensemblist will give you the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of the Broadway experience. Created and hosted by Mo Brady (The Addams Family, SMASH) and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), The Ensemblist is the only podcast that shows you Broadway from the inside out.

5 Debut Questions - A Bronx Tale's Alex Grayson

Mo Brady

Today on our blog, we welcome A Bronx Tale's newest ensemblist, Alex Grayson, to Broadway and learn about his journey to the Great White Way:

Alex Grayson

Alex Grayson

1. What's your name and hometown?

Alex Joseph Grayson from Watertown, NY

2. What is your role/track in your Broadway debut?

I am the Webster Male Swing in A Bronx Tale.

3. How did you find out you had booked the part?

I found out I booked the role when my agent called me about a week after my audition.  I was on my way to the gym.

4. What's been the most surprising thing about preparing to perform the show?

The most surprising part of the rehearsal process is how condensed it has been. The expectation is about a week of learning and you're ready. I hear that this is pretty normal when someone joins a show that has been running for a while.

5. What are you looking forward to most about your experience on Broadway?

Being on Broadway allows me to become a full-time student again.  I now have the time and means to get back into classes that will help me become a greater artist.
