Andrea Dotto shares what it felt like when she heard that the cast of Bandstand would be performing on the 2017 Tony Awards.
"What was the moment like when I found out Bandstand was going to be on the Tony Awards?? I think every actor can relate to that feeling where your body is doing one thing, but your brain or your heart is doing something totally different. That is what happened to me. My body threw its arms in the air and cheered alongside my peers. My eyes looked at Andy (Blankenbuehler)’s happy face, and all the smiling faces all around me. And whilst I beamed and cheered myself, it was like time stopped for my heart and soul. "IS THIS REAL LIFE?!” I thought. “This is really happening. The Tonys. THE TONYS.” I repeated to myself for clarification. I had to process it!"
"Truthfully, I think I am still processing it! And while there is still this wild energy percolating inside of me just from the thought of it, there is also an inner voice that is saying “I knew you could do it!!!” I have always been a sucker for legacy and reverence for the craft, and the Tonys drips with both of those things. It will be a complete dream come true. That’s what my experience with Bandstand feels like; that sweet spot between dreaming and being awake. How thankful am I to realize that it's all TRULY happening! #bandstandrea"
